I am in my 4th year in the Penn State 7 year BS/MD program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, onsite volunteering opportunities were very limited. Because I am experienced with 3D origami, I started Dexterous Hands Serve, a nonprofit organization, in 2020 to teach 3D origami, provide virtual volunteering opportunities, and, ultimately, uplift people undergoing difficulties through 3D origami. We continue to brighten up lives of those in need after the pandemic.

I am a sophomore in the BS/DMD program of Nova Southeastern University. During the summer of 2020, when in-person volunteering was not possible under social distancing, I found a unique way to continue to serve the community. I cofounded Dexterous Hands Serve to teach and lead others to make beautiful 3D origami sculptures and donate them, as symbols of care, love, and joy, to those who are facing difficulties. Through 3D origami, I can make an impact on the lives of both volunteers and recipients.
